6 Activities to Try for a Fun-Filled May in Metro Detroit

Spring is in full swing and with warmer weather comes a plethora of exciting events to enjoy!  May has plenty of fun activities for locals and visitors alike. Here are some of the top events to check out:

 

  1. If you're looking to explore the city, start with the Detroit Hometown Tourist Day at Campus Martius on May 4th. This free event is perfect for locals and tourists alike and offers a chance to explore the city and learn more about what it has to offer.

 

  1. Head to Downtown Ferndale for the Cinco de Mayo Festival on May 5th and 6th. With live music and an abundance of delicious food, this celebration of Mexican culture is sure to be a blast.

 

  1. If you're in the market for unique crafts and goods, don't miss the Clawson/Troy Elks Lodge Craft Fair on May 6th. You're sure to find something special to take home with you.

 

  1. The Berkley Days Hometown Fair is another great event. The fair is happening May 11th through 14th. This family-friendly fair offers something for everyone to enjoy with carnival rides, food vendors, live music, and more!

 

  1. Royal Oak’s, annual Mother’s Day event, Royal Oak in Bloom, is an excellent event for nature lovers to attend on May 14th. Head to the 6th Street Parking Lots (P3 & P7) to check out the beautiful flowers and plants. Also, keep in mind that parking is free on Sundays!

 

  1. On May 15th, head to the Detroit Zoo for Zoo Brew, a fun event that offers over 100 beers from local breweries. This year’s Zoo Brew is focused on zebra conservation and proceeds directly support the zoo’s global wildlife conversation efforts.
